Tyrick Mitchell’s call up has now meant more Crystal Palace players are in the England squad than there are Manchester United stars.
The 22-year-old was drafted in by Gareth Southgate after injuries to several Three Lions members.
As well as him to potentially feature for England is Eagles centre-back Marc Guehi and midfielder Conor Gallagher, who’s on loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea.
They will hope to make a good impression for Southgate as the Three Lions take on Switzerland on Saturday before hosting the Ivory Coast on March 29.
Both games are being held at Wembley Stadium and are live on talkSPORT.
With three Eagles players in the squad, it is a testament to how well they have done this season to earn an England call up, and what Patrick Viera has done in developing their games this season.
Mitchell’s call-up also means there are now more Palace players in Southgate’s squad than those from Man United.
Only Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have made the cut, with Marcus Rashford hitting a bad run of form. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has struggled this season despite the good run he has produced of late.
With age and potential on their side, the future looks very good for the Eagles trio.
Since breaking into the first team last season, Mitchell has now become one of the first names on the teamsheet.
He’s started every game this season in the Premier League, helping them keep eight clean sheets, and seeing them progress to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Gallagher meanwhile has proven to be one of the signings of the season with the amount of attacking contributions he’s produced so far.
With eight goals and three assists in 25 league games, Gallagher has been an immense signing, and one that Chelsea fans will look forward to seeing when he returns from loan.
And Guehi, who came with a lot of pressure after singing from the Blues last summer for £20million, has done well too.
Guehi has been a near ever-present, missing just one league game this season. He has been a part of all England camps since his days in the under-16s.
